The short version

After more than a decade brewing full-strength beer at Austin Street, Will wasn't willing to accept the trade-off every other NA beer forced on him: Great craft flavor OR no alcohol. So he made a beer that required no compromise. Enter: Kit NA.

The long version.

A homebrew on Austin Street turned into one of Maine's most-loved craft breweries — and then, a decade later, something entirely new was created.

2013Year Zero

A homebrew setup on Austin Street, Westbrook.

Will Fisher and his co-founder pool savings, buy a one-barrel system, and start brewing in a garage. No outside investment. No business plan. Just a conviction that they had something special to offer the Maine craft beer scene.

Austin Street opens on Industrial Way, Portland.

The brewery moves into a tiny tasting room on a dead-end industrial street. Lines form around the corner on release days. Ten years in at its newer home in East Bayside, Austin Street is one of the most respected craft breweries in New England.

2021Kit is Born

Rob Barrett meets Will and together they start something new: Maine's first craft NA brewery.

Nothing on shelves tasted like the beer they actually wanted to drink — so they refused to settle. They started engineering one from scratch: full craft flavor, under 0.5% ABV, only 69 calories. It took 18 months and hundreds of rejected batches.

2023Awards

Kit Blonde takes home medal after medal.

Kit Blonde wins at Best of Craft Beer, the World Beer Awards, the US Open Beer Championship, and more — competing head-to-head against some big names with generations of experience. The NA category is still an afterthought at most breweries. It isn't at Kit.

Kit lands at Whole Foods, Amazon, and thousands of independent retailers.

The three-SKU lineup — Blonde, Golden, Hazy — goes deep in New England retail, and nationally online. Still brewed in small batches. Still tastes like Maine.

The Founders

Two guys who really like beer, trying to change the perception of what that means.

Will Fisher
Co-Founder

Will Fisher

Brewmaster · Austin Street Co-founder

Will co-founded Austin Street Brewery in 2013 and spent the next decade obsessing over what makes a beer actually taste good. He started Kit because he refused to accept the trade-off — great craft flavor or no alcohol, pick one. He wanted both.

Rob Barrett
Co-Founder

Rob Barrett

Partner · Builder of the business

Rob came on as co-founder in 2021, bringing a builder's instinct and a deep appreciation for doing things the right way. Together with Will, they turned a fridge in Maine into a national NA craft brand.

From Maine, under your own influence.

A beer that doesn't ask you to compromise — on flavor, on how you feel, or on how you live. That's the whole idea.
